People, I am loosing my hold on the few computer skills I have had, and am already - and I fear, hopelessly - behind the technological times. and here I am thinking of a smart phone and an iPad. Do you suppose I'll be able to turn them on!??
My current bitch-fest is about feed readers, Google, and a desire to flip the bird at the whole darned industry.
So, here's my tale...advise if you dare--or can! HA!
I'm a blog reader. Not everyday, and not millions of them. But some of my very best 'stuff' comes at me from blogs. (remind me to update the list in the sidebar here!) I'm behind on all of my regulars because I've been researching readers; choosing Feedly; migrating (usually by hand) my subscriptions, etc. Seemed fine; everything was there; seemed to have a small learning curve. All good, right?
Yesterday, however, they threw me a curve. Now, I can ONLY sign in to Feedly thru Google. Period.
Why would I want to do that? Why do you, if you do? OR>>how do you read blogs? or news? Must I rely on my bookmarks?
Now we come to the place where I can no longer cope. I do not know how to balance a certain amount of 'Internet Paranoia' with the need to link-up virtually everything.
Am I crazy?
This sign-in-thru-social-media thing seems to be everywhere. Are you doing that? Does your email link to Youtube and that to Facebook and that to Google and that to heaven knows what!!?? And - someone, please - tell me where the Cloud is? I want to weep. I used to be so smart!
Joel is actually crying these days with the frustration she has felt over a problem she is still recovering from. She backed up everything onto an external hard drive, did what she had to to fix the computer, and now can find only part of her files. So, clearly, we need to get friendly with some sort of online storage. But clouds... ? really?
And don't tell me to take a class, please! Continuing Ed has not 'continued' to quite that extent here.
I haven't told my nephew, Elec, yet; but I'm planning on bribing him to help the next time we're in Lubbock. I fear that he might be a MAC man, and that could interfere with what I want to know. But he does have smart phones; HE'S very smart; and I'm fairly sure he might trade a really good meal for some info.
Ok, that's all the energy this deserves for now. thanks; venting helps. :)
